Alpha-Beta Pruning for Games with Simultaneous Moves

چکیده

Alpha-Beta pruning is one of the most powerful and fundamental MiniMax search improvements. It was designed for sequential two-player zero-sum perfect information games. In this paper we introduce an Alpha-Beta-like sound method more general class “stacked matrix games” that allow simultaneous moves by both players. This accomplished maintaining upper lower bounds achievable payoffs in states with actions dominated action based on feasibility certain linear programs. Empirical data shows considerable savings terms expanded nodes compared to naive depth-first move computation without pruning.

Using Double-Oracle Method and Serialized Alpha-Beta Search for Pruning in Simultaneous Move Games

We focus on solving two-player zero-sum extensive-form games with perfect information and simultaneous moves. In these games, both players fully observe the current state of the game where they simultaneously make a move determining the next state of the game. We solve these games by a novel algorithm that relies on two components: (1) it iteratively solves the games that correspond to a single...

Multi-Player Alpha-Beta Pruning

Korf, R.E., Multi-player alpha-beta pruning (Research Note), Artificial Intelligence 48 (1991) 99-111. We consider the generalization of minimax search with alpha-beta pruning to non-cooperative, perfect-information games with more than two players. The minimax algorithm was generalized in [2] to the maxn algorithm applied to vectors of n-tuples representing the evaluations for each of the play...

Pruning Moves

T concept of dominance among nodes of a branch-and-bound tree, although known for a long time, is typically not exploited by general-purpose mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) codes. The starting point of our work was the general-purpose dominance procedure proposed in the 1980s by Fischetti and Toth, where the dominance test at a given node of the branch-and-bound tree consists of the (po...

Strategy Composition in Dynamic Games with Simultaneous Moves

Sometimes, in dynamic games, it is useful to reason not only about the existence of strategies for players, but also about what these strategies are, and how players select and construct them. We study dynamic games with simultaneous moves, repeated normal form games and show that this reasoning can be carried out by considering a single game, and studying composition of “local” strategies. We ...
